What erasers do I use and recommend? (for ink marks, not pencil marks)
Tombow mono sand eraser review:
Sometimes we make genuine mistakes. We make marks on paper with some kind of a pen, not pencil. Uh oh.
In these kinds of situations, I reach for a Tombow mono sand eraser. Tombow means ‘dragonfly’ in Japanese by the way. I just thought you might like to know, as I’m learning a bit of Japanese.
It’s a traditional trapezoidal shaped eraser, rather small, and gray. This little eraser has fine sand grains embedded in it. Think sand grains in a rubber matrix.
And it literally scratches away at the paper, removing fibers from the surface, eating into it. If you keep going, you’ll wear a hole through your paper, so please be careful when using this eraser.
The bad news is that if your paper has some kind of unique texture, it’ll ruin everything. It’ll roughen the area up until it becomes a rough matt finish. Almost like you took to your paper with sandpaper. Right?
If on the other hand I want to remove ordinary pencil marks, I reach for a Faber-Castell “dust-free” eraser.
