Daniel Smith Lunar black
Lunar black was one of the first non-Schmincke colours I tried. Reason being, I felt that the Schmincke blacks were not very black (each of them was quite similar to each other). And I wanted an intense granulating black (well that was the main reason actually).
After I got Daniel Smith black, I realised just how black it was! I started using lunar black in place of Schmincke mars black. What this means is that it extends the gamut of colours. It makes the difference between lunar black and anthracite grey all the more noticeable. I usually paint my the pupils of my eyes black.
