Pale erbium oxide pink pigment
Recently I decided to add a new colour to my palette and that is erbium pink (erbium oxide). I’ve been using it for several months already. I believe no one else has it.
It reminds me of calamine lotion, but it is a more pure pink colour hue, with less yellow in it. I probably could have used calamine lotion to make watercolour, because erbium because is around a hundred times more expensive.
The idea is that I have another skin tone. Because when artists or illustrators don’t have a full colour palette to work from, they sometimes choose pink to represent the colour of caucasian skin.
Anyway, here you can see it is used in the centre of the lungs at the top right hand side of this artwork. It’s very pale and sometimes I add some Daniel Smith cobalt violet PV49 to give it more colour saturation). I hope you like it!
